Niagara-on-the-Lake Hydro is pleased to announce the creation of a carbon calculator that is available for anyone to use. The access to the carbon calculator can be found here: https://www.notlhydro.com/carbon-calculator/. Registration is free and with the carbon calculator you can track your biggest carbon emission activities such as home heating, automobile use, electricity use, water use and air travel. With your free account your activity will be saved and you can update it at your convenience.
The carbon calculator was created in collaboration with the Board of Niagara-on-the-Lake Hydro and with students from Sheridan College.
The carbon calculator is not intended to be a comprehensive measurement of the carbon footprint of any Ontarian or Canadian. It does not measure the carbon impact of foods and general product consumption. Rather, by measuring the carbon emissions of activities that have a direct, carbon-related impact on the environment, users of the calculator will be able to understand their footprint and look at ways to mitigate it. If all consumers and businesses reduce their carbon footprint in this manner then the carbon impact of all the indirect consumption will also be mitigated.
The Board of Niagara-on-the-Lake Hydro hopes you find this tool useful.
