Niagara-on-the-Lake Hydro is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious ENERGY STAR® National Utility of the Year Award – Regional.
“We are very proud to be given this distinction”, said Tim Curtis, Niagara-on-the-Lake Hydro’s President. “We strive to provide the best services to our customers efficiently, such as the lowest delivery charge in the Niagara Region, and this is a further example of these efforts.”
The award is part of ENERGY STAR’s Market Transformation Awards. The awards recognize organizations that have demonstrated excellence in offering Canadian consumers the most energy-efficient products and technology available on the market. They are presented to manufacturers, retailers, utility providers, advocates, and home builders that have shown leadership in manufacturing and promoting energy-efficient products. Previous regional utility winners include Veridian Connections, London Hydro, Thunder Bay Hydro, Manitoba Hydro and Fortis BC Inc.
Key to NOTL Hydro’s was the creation of an interactive cookbook that promotes energy efficiency in the kitchen in a fun and creative medium. CUT, a Cookless Book illustrates the many ways that people can do to reduce their energy consumption in the kitchen. The project was created in-house and included several recipe submissions from many local area chefs from White Oaks, Niagara College, Oban Inn, The Old Winery, Queenston Heights, Peller Estates and many other recipes from NOTL Hydro employee & author, Brodie Mosher. This initiative along with the continued success of our existing conservation programs has helped us gain recognition on a national scale.
