Town to Receive Funds to Replace Dead Municipal Trees

November 12, 2019, Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON – Niagara-on-the-Lake Hydro is happy to announce the ending of our Tree Fund promotion, netting the Town $2,760 in funds. The Tree Fund helps replace dead trees on municipally owned locations with a combination of saplings and mature trees to keep our Town beautiful and healthy. Hydro donated $10 for every account that converted from mailed to emailed bills.

“We’re encouraged that our customers are helping to reduce our environmental impact and helps beautify the community at the same time,” said Tim Curtis, NOTL Hydro President. “We’re looking forward to the first planting of 2020.”

The Tree Fund was created to help pay for the greening of Niagara-on-the-Lake. The Town had over 1,400 ash trees and have already removed over 50% due to the ash borer with more expected this year. The Tree Fund pays for new saplings or mature trees to replace removed trees and add new trees where needed.

“I would like to thank Niagara-on-the-Lake Hydro for their generous contribution to Niagara-on-the-Lake’s Tree Fund,” stated Lord Mayor Betty Disero. “I am very proud of the work NOTL Hydro does to keep hydro costs down for our residents while maintaining efficient and effective service. Their ongoing support and involvement in our community are much appreciated.”
